The Hill is a name given to a gathering place in Mohkínstsis, Treaty 7, Métis Nation of Alberta Region III.

THE HILL is an interdisciplinary artist group formed in Mohkínstsis, Treaty 7, Métis Nation of Alberta Region III in 2022.

THE HILL services a need for transmission between artists who approach the uncensored voice and unapologetic truth with open arms and embrace the discomfort together. We operate adjacent to the institution; the institution is visible when we choose to greet it.

THE HILL holds space for us, and in return we hold space for THE HILL.

We are present when we are able; if we are present, we are able.

Our mandate is to exercise reciprocity and gratitude in providing support to artists and their voices with a sensitivity to the multimodality of artistic process. THE HILL aims to facilitate a range of collaborative initiatives for all artists in the local contemporary art and craft community through the exhibition and dissemination of art in both real and virtual spaces, collaborative projects, critique sessions, technical support, media archive, and other community events.

As a group we can hold space for new ideas, critiques, and approaches to contemporary art and media. Together, we can facilitate interdisciplinary gatherings for conversation, exchange, listening, learning, experimentation, collaboration, creation, practice, curation, teaching, exhibition, archive, and community building. It is here where pedagogy and art are synthesized through conversation; materialized through reciprocity.

All our relations, THE HILL
