The Hawak Kamay Art Collective is a Filipino-Student led group aiming to promote the growing Filipino/FilipinX/FilipinA art community developing not only at AuArts, but in Calgary. We are now accepting members in other institutions in Calgary such as Mount Royal University and the University of Calgary. Founded by Thea Galang, and co-directed by John Asilo and Marissa Boutet,.

We are a collective aiming to promote all sorts of art mediums made by Filipino artists (ie: Media based art, two-dimensional art, three-dimensional art etc.) To present these mediums, we aim to hold exhibitions showcasing our Filipino artists and workshops to promote certain aspects of our culture that are lesser known. So far, this collective has participated in the November 2023 Gallery Crawl, reaching immense success and support from the students, faculty and general public!

We aim to hold bi-weekly meetings, occasionally expanding the number in case an event date is coming close, to discuss logistics, budget and overall planning for upcoming events.
