The Opportunity



AUArts is seeking organized and reliable Summer Camp Facilitators to support the School of Continuing Education & Professional Development (SCEPD) at Alberta University of the Arts.



Reporting to the Manager, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Summer Camp Facilitators work with the Program Developer to prepare and deliver hands-on, arts-based studio learning and recreational activities as part of weekly Summer Camp programs.



Facilitators will build practical skills in teamwork, organization, communication, customer service, and teaching while supporting programming for children (9–12) and teens (12–15). This includes arts-based learning, showcasing student work, and supporting recreational activities. Skills developed in this role are transferable across creative, educational, and professional contexts.



This is a casual position commencing on or before June 29, 2026, until August 2026. Hours of work will be approximately 35 hours per week, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday.



Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory Police Information Check.



Key Responsibilities



Lead and support instructional activities through classroom/studio-based delivery
work with staff to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
Assist with the setting up of weekly showcases and exhibitions
Support the delivery of indoor and outdoor recreation activities during non-instructional time


Qualifications:



The following qualifications have been determined to promote likelihood of

success in the role. In alignment with the principles of inclusion, individuals with an alternative equivalent qualification may be considered.



Current student or recent graduate in Visual Arts, Design, Media, Education, or related fields
Experience in one or more of the following: 2D or 3D art, Sewing/garment construction, ceramics, Animation/cartooning, Drawing, Photography, Painting
Ability to lead hands-on arts-based activities for children and youth
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Positive attitude and ability to act as a role model
Strong organization and time-management skills
Customer service orientation
Ability to complete basic program records (attendance, forms, documentation)
Experience teaching, working or volunteering with children and youth
First Aid certification is an asset

As a member of the AUPE bargaining unit (Local 071/006), this casual position pays an hourly rate of $18.00 plus 6% pay in lieu of vacation and union dues will be collected at a rate of 1.5% per pay. As this position is casual in nature, there will be no guarantee of hours or a regular schedule.
