Post Content: Applications are now open for the 2027 Icelandic National League of North America Artist Residency Award. The award is open to Icelandic artists, to artists with Icelandic heritage, and artists of any nationality working on projects about Iceland, its people, landscape, and culture. Emerging and established artists of all disciplines are encouraged to apply. Please reach out to the Buttermaker’s House about types of work spaces available. A total of $4800 in funding will be available to be shared between a pool of successful applicants. The funding is intended to cover the cost of accommodations at the Buttermaker’s House. Additional costs for materials, travel, and food are the responsibility of the artist. The Buttermaker’s House is a fully-restored, historic one-bedroom farm house with two work spaces. Originally built in 1913, the house sits on a tree-lined property along a gently flowing river in the vibrant rural community of Markerville, Alberta. The Buttermaker’s House is one of several historic and community spaces run by community members and artists are encouraged to explore. Residents are welcome, but not required, to give talks, workshops, or performances during their time supported by our team. Application requires a one-page project description, a CV, and 150 word statement about the connection of the project to Iceland. Applications close November 30th. Applicants will be notified by January 30th, 2027.
