Post Content: We're seeking 4 AUArts Students in their final year of study to participate in Deep Dream Superstructure, a collaborative workshop and sculpture at the Illingworth Kerr Gallery.
This is a paid opportunity, with Artist Fees supported by CADA. You may apply as an individual, duo, or collective.

Deep Dream Superstructure is a collaborative sculpture providing the architecture for collective dreaming. Guided by artists Caitlind r.c. Brown & Wayne Garrett, the concept responds to Faces & Places at the IKG, paying tribute to the DIY ethos of domestic art-spaces in Calgary/Mohkinstsis.
The sculpture takes the form of a towering stack of A-frame houses. At the foundation of the tower is a bed. Visitors are invited to interact with the artwork by napping in the bed. However, this structure is just the framework for the actual project. The heart of the work is a collaboration with 8 artists ~ a combination of AUArts alumni and students in their final year of study.
Each week from Oct 2 - Nov 20, a different artist will be invited to take a nap in the superstructure. From their "dreams" they will create an addition to the artwork in any medium including sculpture, fibre, video, performance, sound, etc! It's up to you. The goal is not to create one unified vision, but a kaleidoscope of perspectives. Each artist should respond with individual agency, autonomy, and a little bit of mischief...
By the end of the exhibition, the superstructure will be transformed into a collection of different artists' superimposed "dreams."

Artist fees are $500 per individual artist + $150 for materials. The artist fees are double for duos or collectives.
