School of Communication Design (SCD)
Advertising - Ryza Elisha Adriano (any pronouns)
My name is Ryza Adriano, I use any pronouns, and I’m a Design Major with Minors in Illustration and Advertising.
I’m interested in becoming an SLC Representative because I want to be more involved in the AUArts community and help represent the students in my department. I’d like to be someone students can come to with their ideas, concerns, or questions and help bring those things forward.
Before coming to AUArts, I was involved in student council throughout high school. I was a student body representative for three years, President of Student Council in my senior year, and the social media manager for our student council. I made posters, Instagram posts, and reels for events, clubs, and other school initiatives. These experiences gave me a lot of experience with leadership, event organization, communication, and student advocacy.
At AUArts, I’m focused on developing my skills in design, illustration, and advertising while meeting new people and building connections. As an SLC Representative, I’m interested in student advocacy, student wellness, campus engagement, and creating more opportunities for students to connect with each other.
Bachelor of Design (BDes) General Studies - Jeaya Agustin (they/them)
Hello hello! I’m Jeaya Agustin, a 2nd year Character Design & Illustration student with a concentration in Animation, and I hope to support and uplift my BDes community by becoming your BDes representative! We are a vast community and I want to ensure that every voice and concern is heard.
In my first year at AUArts, I was fortunate enough to meet and engage with peers from all kinds of departments through spaces like the Jingle Choir, AUArts Concert Ensemble, and being one of the First Year Reps/Events Committee members in the SLC. I have come to learn about all the wonderful communities and opportunities within the school, especially being among my fellow BDes students. However, I’ve also come to learn about the many ways we can improve and advocate for our major.
WHAT I WANT TO ADVOCATE FOR:
More resources: I’ve experienced firsthand being an animation student the impact of the lack of technicians, tutors, and sufficient workstations. Our work is very tech heavy and we do not have enough technicians and tutors specialized in each department to support us.
Community: Like I said, we are a vast group of designers but I want to bridge gaps between departments through social/networking opportunities. I’ve seen collaboration between illustration and graphic design students in my design classes, references created and shared between animation and photography, etc. – I want to encourage that! Our shared and diverse experiences are valuable.
Most of all, I want to be an approachable and reliable advocate for all of you! I want to engage as much as possible with my community to best represent YOU.
Thank you for your support! Let’s make AUArts a better space!
School of Visual Arts (SVA)
Master of Fine Arts (MFA) First Year - Paige Brasso (she/her)
My name is Paige Brasso, and I am in my first year of the MFA program. I am interested in being the first-year cohort representative because I am passionate about the school and about strengthening communication and relationships between students and staff. In this role, I would like to help our relatively small MFA cohort feel more at ease within the institution, better understand our role here, and help staff better understand our needs. Having completed my BFA at AUArts and now continuing into the MFA, I have spent many years within this community and have developed a strong understanding of and love for the school. I deeply care about our community and want to contribute to it thoughtfully, ask questions, and help ensure students have their needs represented.
Media Arts (MADT) - M. Dawn Brass (she/her)
Hello my name is Dawn! I’m a 4th year Media Arts student who is applying to represent students in the faculty. I have a strong desire to build community, and as as a result, I founded Silent Club. It is a mental health-focused initiative that aims at helping students on campus find connection with peers. I am particularly interested in expanding my support to the Media Arts community on campus at large. I am open to learning from others and being an advocate. My goal in this position is to help facilitate resources wherever there is a gap and improve the department wherever possible.
I am not afraid to speak up in order to campaign student needs and interests.
