Post Content: I'm writing on behalf of the Alberta Criminal Justice Association (ACJA) to share a unique opportunity for your students. We are hosting an Essay Writing Competition that invites participants to explore how recent shifts in the American political landscape may influence Canada's criminal justice system. We hope this contest will spark thoughtful discussion about issues such as law enforcement, legal rights, and access to justice.

Who can participate: While the theme will be of particular interest to students studying criminal justice, the competition is open to all full-time students. Participants must submit proof of current enrollment along with their essay.

Submission guidelines:
1500 words max (not including title page and references)
Double-spaced
APA 7th edition format
Original work - no assistance from artificial-intelligence tools
Deadline for submission: April 15th, 2026, at 11:59 PM

Prize: The winner will receive $500 and an offer to have their essay published in the Canadian Criminal Justice Association's Justice Report.

Completed essays and proof of enrollment should be sent to info@acja.ca. A full description of the competition, including the prompt and requirements, is available on the attached poster.

If you have any questions or require any additional information, please feel free to contact us at info@acja.ca.

Thank you for your support in encouraging student engagement with issues that shape our justice system.
