AUArts is seeking organized and reliable Summer Camp Facilitators to support the School of Continuing Education & Professional Development (SCEPD) at the Alberta University of the Arts, starting on or before June 29, 2026.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Summer Camp Facilitators work with the Program Developer to prepare and deliver hands-on, arts-based studio learning and recreational activities as part of weekly Summer Camp programs.
Facilitators will build practical skills in teamwork, organization, communication, customer service, and teaching while supporting programming for children (9–12) and teens (12–15). This includes arts-based learning, showcasing student work, and supporting recreational activities. Skills developed in this role are transferable across creative, educational, and professional contexts.
What this role will look like:
o Lead and support instructional activities through classroom/studio-based delivery
o Work with staff to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
o Assist with the setting up of weekly showcases and exhibitions
o Support delivery of indoor and outdoor recreational activities during non-instructional time
These positions are full-time during program periods from June through August (but may not be continuous). Hours are 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory Police Information Check.
The successful candidate(s) will have:
β€’ Current student or recent graduate in Visual Arts, Design, Media, Education, or related fields
β€’ Ability to lead hands-on arts-based activities for children and youth
β€’ Strong communication and teamwork skills
β€’ Positive attitude and ability to act as a role model
β€’ Strong organization and time-management skills
β€’ Customer Service Orientation
β€’ Ability to complete basic program records (attendance, forms, documentation)
β€’ Experience teaching, working or volunteering with children and youth
β€’ First Aid certification is an asset
Experience in one or more of the following:
ο‚§ 2D or 3D art
ο‚§ Sewing/garment construction
ο‚§ Ceramics
ο‚§ Animation/cartooning
ο‚§ Drawing
ο‚§ Photography
ο‚§ Painting
