Social Media Assistant 

AUArts SA is looking for a Social Media Assistant to help the Communications team create video and image content as well as assist with management of social media platforms, with specific attention to Instagram and TikTok. This individual will work closely with the Communications Coordinator to produce, schedule, and post strategic brand content, and will be responsible for the day-to-day social media needs of the Association. The role requires attending AUArts SA events on campus and at partner venues in Calgary to create engaging social media content. 

  • Employment Type:  

  • This role is an annual part-time, hourly contracted position. $17/hr for 12 – 15 hours of work per week. 

  • Contract Length: August 15th 2025 – April 15th 2026. 

  • Location: In-person at Alberta University of the Arts, Calgary, Alberta as well as remote. 

  • Hourly Pay Range: $17.00/ hr  

  • Reports to: Communications Manager. 

Core Objectives: 

  • Attend AUArts SA events on campus and at partner venues to engage with audiences on social media platforms. This includes sharing stories, streaming live feeds, and answering questions from audience members. 

  • Create dynamic graphic and video content within social media platforms. 

  • Adapt social media content for various social media feeds. 

  • Use timelines and scheduled content to create a consistent stream of new content throughout the academic year. 

  • Support the Communications team in social media campaigns to promote AUArts SA programming, events, and membership services/resources. 

  • Maintain various social media platforms by checking for updates, engaging with audience members, and redirecting general inquiries. 

Qualifications and Skills: 

Required: 

  • Previous experience in social media marketing, photography/videography, and/or a related field. 

  • Awareness of current social media trends. 

  • Outgoing, friendly personality with strong verbal and written communication. 

  • Team player with the ability to give and receive feedback, implement team strategies, and work with minimal supervision during events. 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Must have access to a photography camera 

    Assets: 

  • Familiarity with Adobe Express. 

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and SharePoint.
