Show + Sale Support Staff

Come join the Show + Sale team for Fall 2025! Show + Sale is an artist-led program that provides AUArts students with opportunities to sell their artwork and learn professional skills. We are the Students' Association's largest and longest-running program, having been in operation for 34 years.

In our program, we pride ourselves on providing exceptional mentorship and meaningful professional development. Show + Sale artists don't just sell their artwork; they gain the skills and confidence to make a sustainable living from their art practice

The Show + Sale Support Staff are responsible for assisting in all aspects of the Winter Market event in an efficient and professional manner to support the operations of the Show + Sale annual Winter Market. The role offers a variety of shifts from preparation to takedown, artwork handling/packaging, installation, sales processing on POS systems, and customer service. All Support Staff will be trained by the Show + Sale team in each role. 


Employment Type:
The role is a casual part-time, hourly contract. $16/hrs. up to 50 hours.

Contract Length:
From October 27 to November 24, 2025

Including a paid 3-hour training session.

Hourly Pay Range:
 The pay rate is $16.00 / hr.

Reports to
 Show + Sale Manager, Show + Sale Coordinator, Programs Director

Core Objectives

  • Support Show + Sale during product upload to our POS system, inventory management and inventory drop-off/pick-up supervisor. 

  • Assist in running the Show + Sale Winter Market working shifts at various stations such as cashier, artwork packaging, greeters, inventory stocking, and customer service.

  • Work with the Show + Sale Technician to assist in the installation, and de-installation of the Winter Market by preparing various spaces for exhibition, including moving and leveling plinths and walls, spackling and painting.

  • Using power tools appropriately 

  • Responsibly handling and moving art

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual able to work alone and as part of a team. They are passionate about peer mentorship, working collaboratively and want to gain experience in art installation, event planning, and arts markets.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential 

  • Availability for the week of November 9-15, 2025 (Fall Reading Week) 

  • Ability to work independently and be a responsive member of the AUArtsSA team

  • Organized and detail oriented

  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills

  • Courteous, empathetic and skillful at conveying information and ideas concisely, and correcting issues promptly and professionally

  • Enjoys engaging with the public and participating in lively conversations

  • Comfortable initiating discussions with new people

  • Exhibits a friendly and welcoming demeanor

  • Passionate about communication and networking

 Desirable

  • Experience working in a similar role and/or with Shopify point of sale system (POS) is considered an asset

  • Confident in a proactive approach to sales initiatives

 Preference will be given to current students and recent graduates of AUArts. Must be available for the full duration of the event including the evening of November 14, and November 15, 2025
