Post Content: Run Calgary is the non-profit organization behind the Servus Calgary Marathon and a growing portfolio of community running events. We are inviting local artists to contribute to our 2026 merchandise collection. This initiative celebrates Calgaryโ€™s creative community while showcasing movement, community, and the spirit of running through original, wearable art.
Our goal is to create limited-edition merchandise pieces that feel authentic, inclusive, and proudly local, designed by artists who reflect the energy and diversity of our city. These pieces will be one-of-a-kind hero artwork - custom illustrated, intentionally designed, and a unique addition to existing merchandise inventory.
Who Should Apply
Calgary-based artists and illustrators (emerging or established)
Graphic designers, muralists, illustrators, and mixed-media artists
Individuals or small collectives (must designate one lead contact)
Previous apparel experience is an asset but not required.
Creative Direction & Guardrails
Themes to Explore (interpret freely):
Movement, endurance, and personal achievement
Community, connection, and shared experiences
Calgary pride (subtle, modern, throwback)
Nature, urban landscapes, and iconic local energy
Run Calgary OR Calgary Marathon related themes
Design Guardrails:
Artwork must be original and created specifically for Run Calgary
Designs should translate well to apparel (t-shirts, hoodies, hats, accessories)
Avoid licensed characters, copyrighted imagery, or political messaging
Inclusive, positive, and community-forward tone required

Run Calgary branding (logos, event names) may be applied by our internal team unless otherwise agreed.
Timeline (Subject to Minor Adjustment)
Call opens: NOW
Submission deadline: January 26, 2026
Artist selection & notification: February 10, 2026
Final artwork delivery: February 17, 2026
Production & launch: March - May
How to Apply

A short statement of interest (max 250 words)
1โ€“2 artwork concepts
3โ€“5 samples of relevant work (PDF or link)
Instagram or portfolio website (if available)
Final Deliverables If Selected
1โ€“2 final artwork designs
Vector or high-resolution files suitable for screen or digital printing
A short artist bio (50โ€“75 words) for marketing and promotion
Social Media handles
Artist logo and headshot for collaborative announcements
Budget & Compensation
Artist honorarium: $1,000โ€“$2,500 per selected design, depending on scope, complexity and use
Selected artists will receive complimentary merchandise featuring their work
No royalties at this time; fee covers design creation and usage
Usage & Rights
Artists retain copyright to their work
Run Calgary will receive a non-exclusive, perpetual license to use the artwork for 2026 merchandise, marketing, and promotional purposes
Artists may showcase the work in portfolios and self-promotion
Selection Criteria
Artistic quality and originality
Alignment with Run Calgary values and audience
Strong translation to wearable merchandise
Representation of diverse voices and perspectives
