Post Content: I am working on a comic and board game project that I hope to crowdfund in 2027/28 and I have an eccentric concept for the promotional website. I want to mimic the style of a 90s web ring, with a horror mystery story that can be uncovered by exploring the website (and maybe something on the website has noticed you as well...)
I'm hoping to use tricks like cloned pages, swapped art assets and dead links to simulate several "websites," with limited actual functionality aside from a storefront, and possibly a couple "game mechanics" like a "search bar" that takes you to a hidden page if you enter the correct word.
I'm hoping to spend $5-10k on the website, though scope and price is negotiable, and I can source a certain amount of the art myself but it would be helpful to find someone who understands the nostalgia horror vibe I'm aiming for and can help me craft that.
Neocities has been suggested as a platform, I'm open to whatever but leaning away from using larger template sites to minimize ongoing fees and avoid the standard modern website design styles.
In terms of timeline I'm hoping to have the site live before the end of the year so I can start using it for marketing. I'm happy to provide further details for anyone interested!
