ABOUT NASARIMBA

NASARIMBA, meaning โ€œplayful mischiefโ€, is the collaborative practice of multidisciplinary Calgary-based artists Rachel Ziriada and Mikhail Miller. Since 2015, they have explored a wide range of artistic disciplines, including screen-printed editions, assemblage sculptures, acrylic paintings, installations, and large-scale murals. Over the past eight years, mural painting has become a synthesis of these diverse mediums, incorporating elements such as printmaking gradients, sculptural shadows, and the gestural textures of studio-based painting. Their work investigates aspects of everyday life, reimagined through lenses of abstraction. At the core of NASARIMBA's practice is a hybrid approach that merges traditional materials with digital tools. Our process begins with intuitive, layered compositions using airbrush, spray paint, and acrylic. This fluid movement between analog and digital, intuition and structure, defines the rhythm of our creative process.
