Post Content: A cutthroat trout born without gill plates.
This is one of the deformities caused by selenium—an inevitable pollutant downstream of metallurgical coal extraction.
The UCP government is pushing forward with metallurgical coal mining in the headwaters of the Oldman River, in Alberta’s Rocky Mountains, Livingstone-McLeod riding.
This is despite:
– Proven, irreversible water contamination
– A failed federal-provincial regulatory review
– Widespread public opposition
– Ongoing legal challenges from Kainai and Siksika Nations for breach of the duty to consult
We’re looking for 7 people to help us stage a protest-as-parade entry in Nanton Round-Up Days (August 4).
We’ll walk the parade in with cutthroat trout parts (heads and tails), carry signs, hand out zines, and bring visibility to what’s being silenced.
This one matters. If you can commit, sign up here https://docs.google.com/.../1FAIpQLSfZ20UcSeJ.../viewform...
