Communications Coordinator
The AUArts SA is looking for a Communications Coordinator is who adaptable, organized, and technologically inclined, and who knows the rules of the trade well enough to break them. This position would be responsible for handling marketing strategies and cohesive brand deliverables for the Association, as well as asset support for our annual Show + Sale team, and the Marion Nicoll Gallery team. With support of a Social Media Assistant, the Communications Coordinator would oversee the vision, direction, and structure of our websites and social media channels to bring student awareness to the offerings and programming of the Association and effectively engage students across the AUArts Campus.
Employment Type:
This role is permanent part-time, salaried position.
Contract Length: Late July 2026 – May 31st 2027.
Location: Hybrid, with in-person at the Alberta University of the Arts campus, Calgary, Alberta.
Salary: $29,726.67/annually, or the equivalent of $24.50/hourly
Reports to: Executive Director
Core Objectives
The Communications Coordinator contributes to the organization by fulfilling the following objectives:
Evolve and maintain a cohesive brand image for AUArts SA in terms of social media assets, website, branding package (including fonts, use of logo, consistent imagery, etc), printed materials, and be the overall driver when it comes to the Associations communication strategy.
Oversee staff, primarily the Social Media Assistant, and collaborate with them to create a maintainable, mutually supportive, and creative workload structure regarding content creation, scheduling, and updates.
Coordinating with different departments/teams at the Association to create and deliver on different digital and printed assets.
Connect regularly with Programs Manager, Vice President of Student Life, and AUArts Communication Team to manage event and programming deliverables, and to confirm a shared vision and collaborative effort to connect with the student body.
Maintain and evolve the AUArts SA website and social channels, along with associated programs maintained by the organization, such as Show + Sale and the MNG.
Qualifications & Skills:
In-depth knowledge of communication and design practices with experience in community engagement via strategic marketing.
Project and time management skills, and the ability to juggle multiple deliverables while remaining organized and guiding others.
Awareness of social media trends and how to translate to our needs.
Understanding of the algorithmic overlords, and how to work the systems to our benefit is essential. The ability to collect and provide specs and data will be required for grant reporting.
A stylish team player with an outgoing nature, sense of humor, and strong written and verbal communication skills. You know how to pivot, you’re okay to say no, and you know when it’s appropriate to delegate.
Assets: Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft 365, Meta Business Suite, and Squarespace.
