Post Content: The Canadian Coalition of Women in Engineering, Science, Trades and Technology (CCWESTT) invites artists—or collaborative teams of artists—to apply for the role of Artist in Residence for our 2026 biennial conference. https://conference.ccwestt.org/en/

As
we gather under the theme “Beyond Boundaries: Collaborating for Collective Action,” we seek an artist who can act as a "visual listener." You will immerse yourself in three days of high-impact sessions, policy forums, and community sharing, ultimately summarizing the learnings and insights of the event into a final artistic summary to be unveiled on the closing day.

The Ask
We are looking for a creative partner (in any medium—visual arts, digital media, spoken word, music, etc.) to:

Attend: Attendance in part of each day is required (May 23–26, exact timing to be discussed).
Observe: Engage with sessions covering culture shifts in SETT (Science, Engineering, Trades, and Technology), systemic change, and community best practices.
Create: Develop a "summary" piece (or series) that reflects the key themes, emotions, and calls to action emerged during the event.
Reveal: Present or perform the final work during the conference’s closing session on Tuesday, May 26th.

Compensation
Artist Honorarium: The selected artist (or artist collective) will receive a total payment of $3,000 upon completion of the residency and the final presentation at the end of the conference.
Materials: Artists are responsible for providing materials.

What We Are Looking For
We are open to all forms of expression. Your pitch could involve:
- A large-scale live painting or mural that evolves daily.
- A digital art suite or data visualization inspired by your observations and attendee input.
- A multi-disciplinary approach (we welcome two or more artists working together).

Submission Requirements
Interested artists should submit a single PDF proposal (max 4 pages) to conference2026@ccwestt.org by April 24, 2026, Email subject line Artist in Residence  - including:

- Logistics: How will you execute this over the conference days? (Include any space, power, or material needs).
- Artist Statement & Bio: Tell us about yourself and your connection to gender equality or STEM/Trades themes (if applicable). (If a collective, include bios for all members).
