[Calgary, Alberta] - [October 25, 2023] - Canopy Studios, a hub for creativity, announces a unique opportunity for artists and creative individuals, of all ages and experience, across Alberta to engage in a community art project, enabling them to share their distinct interpretations of our captivating province. This remarkable initiative, entitled “What does Alberta mean to you?”, encourages artists to craft a 4”x4” piece using any medium that resonates with their personal connection to Alberta.

Participation Guidelines: All are cordially invited to submit their 4”x4” artworks, no previous art experience necessary and all ages welcome, which will become part of a vibrant community art installation at Canopy Art Studios. Artwork may be dispatched via mail or delivered in person to Canopy Studios, located at 1723 9th Street SW, Calgary, Alberta. T2T 3C1, with attention to Kim Webb. Artists have the option to include their name and contact information on the reverse side of their artwork, or choose to remain anonymous.

Submission Deadline: Artwork submissions will be accepted until November 12, 2023. It is important to note that artwork will not be returned.

Contributing to a Noble Cause: Participation in this endeavor is cost-free, and contributors will not receive compensation. By contributing your artwork, you actively support a community art project. Each 4”x4” tile will be made available for sale via donation, with all proceeds dedicated to funding refugee support efforts in Alberta.

Unleash your Creative Spirit: The creative prompt for this engaging project is simple yet profound: “What does Alberta mean to you?” Alberta holds different meanings for different individuals, shaped by their experiences and the time they have spent within the province. This project encourages artists to share their unique perspectives through art, becoming part of a collective art installation.

Art Exhibition: The community art installation will be prominently showcased at Canopy Studios as an integral part of the art exhibit “Alberta, Dark Sky Country” by local artists Deborah Millward, running November 12 to December 17, 2023. This presents a remarkable opportunity for artists to showcase their work to a broader audience.
