Welcome AUArts Students!

Another year of studies at the Alberta University of the Arts begins, in its first year as a University! To those of you who are first year students, we are delighted to have you joining our community on campus, and for returning students we are happy to have you back! This email has a lot of exciting information, so check it out after the jump.

About Us

AUArts SA is an organization primarily comprised of current AUArts students and alumni, funded by students, and operating for students. We advocate on behalf of students to the administration and faculty in various councils and committees, and we operate programs and services for students to support you during your time here. We famously run the bi-annual Students’ Association Show and Sale and Hear/d Student Artist Residency which offer students professional development opportunities, and a chance to connect with their community! We also provide various wellness and community building events, gallery and exhibition opportunities, and your health and dental coverage. For more information on our programs and services, check out our website at www.auarts-sa.ca.

Our By-Elections are coming up! We have many positions we are still looking to fill within our Student Leadership Committee (SLC), and one on the Executive Committee (EC). If you are interested in holding a position to represent your department, please check out the available positions on our website: http://www.acadsa.ca/about/elections/. By engaging with students, hosting bi-weekly meetings and promoting our community on social media, the SLC helps to bridge the gap between our varying departments. Being a representative on our board is a fantastic addition to your resume, compensates you for your commitment, and is a reasonable workload to achieve on top of your already busy schedule. The official notice of elections has gone out and nomination packages must be dropped off at the AUA SA office no later than September 17th by 4pm. We look forward to your interest in running!

You can find information about the students’ association, our staff, and representative members at www.auarts-sa.ca/about. Get to know our team! Say hello to us in the halls and we will do the same. Stay up to date on what is happening at the Students’ Association, check out news and events on our website, and follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram – @AUArts.SA.

You will need to complete an application to opt out with proof of your alternative coverage on the Studentcare website between those dates. Studentcare representatives will be on site September 25 from 11am-2pm in the main mall to answer any questions you have about your coverage, and the opt-out process.

If you return as an eligible student in September 2020, you’ll be automatically re-enrolled in the AUArts SA Health & Dental Plan. Should you wish to opt out again next year, you must renew the opt out directly on the Studentcare website, but you will not have to re-submit your proof of other coverage.
